Medication Policy

  • Students may not dispense medication on campus themselves.
  • The medication as well as the form, SBISD Physician's Statement for Prescription Medication, complete with a licensed healthcare provider's written instructions and signature, must be brought to the school nurse before school starts.
  • Prescription drugs must be in original packaging from a pharmacy or drug store.
  • Over the counter medications such as Tylenol and cough drops can be given to students under certain conditions. All medications must be in the original container and a parent must fill out and sign the proper form for non-prescription meds located on the Health Services page.
  • It is against school policy for students to carry medication on their person or in their backpack.

Shots

  • All students must have immunizations current and a copy of shot records must be given to the school nurse for placement in the student's file.
  • Please see the school nurse if you have questions about your child's shot records.
